Terms
Terms and conditions
How we work together, in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you sign up.
About these terms
These terms are between you and Ginger Afro, a small web design and branding studio in the UK ("we", "us"). Part 1 covers using this website. Part 2 covers the websites, care plans and add-ons we provide. Your quote, once you accept it, forms part of the agreement; if it says something different from these terms, the quote wins.
Part 1: Using this website
You're welcome to browse, share and link to this site. Please don't copy our designs, illustrations or copy for your own use without asking.
We keep the site accurate and working, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Prices on the site are a guide; the price you pay is the one in your quote.
Our shop links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Your purchase is with Amazon, on Amazon's terms, and any questions about an order go to them.
How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
Part 2: Our website services
Quotes
The first chat is free. After it, we send a written quote setting out the package, any add-ons, what you'll supply and the price. A quote is valid for 30 days. Work starts once you accept it in writing (email is fine).
Paying
- Setup fees: half when you accept the quote, half before your site goes live. Starter sites are paid in full up front.
- Add-ons: paid with the setup fee, or when you order them later.
- Annual care: £150 a year, paid in advance. The first year starts on the day your site goes live.
- Invoices are due within 14 days. Your quote shows any VAT.
What you supply
You send us your words, photos, logo and details in a usable form, and you confirm you have the right to use them. You're responsible for the accuracy of your content and for your business meeting any rules that apply to it. If content arrives late, the launch date moves with it.
Changes and approval
Before launch, we show you the site and make a reasonable round of changes within the agreed scope. Your site goes live once you approve it. Work beyond the quote, such as more pages or a new design direction, is priced and agreed before we do it.
Annual care
Your care plan covers hosting, essential technical upkeep, basic checks that the site is running, Google Search Console and a short yearly report. It doesn't cover new features, redesigns or problems caused by third-party services outside our control.
It also includes one batch of small edits each quarter of your care year: one email listing changes such as wording, contact details, opening hours or swapped photos, taking about 15 minutes in total. Unused batches don't carry over. Extra small edits are £15 each; we'll confirm before we start. Fixing our own mistakes is free and never uses your batch.
We aim to reply to emails within two working days and to make small edits within five working days. We're a small studio, not an emergency service, so we don't offer round-the-clock support.
Results
We build sites to be fast, accessible and easy for search engines to understand. We can't guarantee rankings, traffic or enquiries: those depend on many things outside our control.
Who owns what
- Your content, logo and domain name are yours. Domains we register for you are registered in your name.
- Once you've paid the setup fee in full, the design and the finished website are yours to use.
- We keep the right to reuse our own code, layouts and tools on other projects.
- We may show your site in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.
Ending the care plan
You can end your care plan at any time by emailing us at least 30 days before it renews. We don't refund part years. If you leave, we'll send you a copy of your website's files and help you move your domain, so you're never locked in.
If a care invoice is more than 30 days overdue, we'll remind you, and if it still isn't paid we may take the site offline until it is. We'll always warn you first.
If we ever stop offering care plans, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice and help you move.
Cancelling before launch
If you cancel a project before launch, you pay for the work done up to that point, and we'll refund anything you've paid beyond that. If you're buying as a consumer rather than a business, you also have 14 days to cancel after accepting a quote, but if you ask us to start within those 14 days, you pay for work done before you cancel.
Liability
We take care with our work, and we'll fix anything we get wrong. Our total liability to you is limited to what you've paid us in the 12 months before the problem. We're not liable for lost profits or business, or for losses caused by things outside our control, such as hosting or third-party outages. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, or your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Changes don't affect a quote you've already accepted, and we'll tell care plan clients about any change before their next renewal.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If we disagree, let's talk first; we'd much rather sort it out over email. Questions go to [email protected].
